| We ask for an interview

International Women's Day will once again be celebrated on March 8, 2023! Since 1911, people around the world have been reminding and protesting that equality between men and women cannot be taken for granted. We should work to uncover and improve gender-based discrimination. This year, the motto for International Women's Day is: "If you're looking for skilled workers, you can't do without women!". But is that true? We asked our founder.

"In addition to the crises of our time, it is not surprising that issues such as equality between people in society and at work, regardless of their gender identity and the associated stigmas, are being pushed into the background. On International Women's Day, however, we are taking the opportunity to draw attention to precisely this. To mark the occasion, we asked our co-founder, Nelli Enns, for an interview.

I hope you enjoy reading it!", Annika Schneider (Greenfield Marketing Officer)

Tell us about your female power in the IT business!

Our company stands for enduring values: professionalism, honesty, reliability and ingenuity. We love to design new solutions, regardless of whether they are individual customer projects or issues within our own organization. Our name "Greenfield" reflects our entrepreneurial spirit and individuality. I personally attach great importance to intact relationships with our customers, partners and, above all, within our company. However, "Greenfield" also means taking risks and not being discouraged by adverse circumstances.

Is there a female role model from your life that has particularly inspired you?

Most likely my friend and mentor, who passed away a few years ago. She taught me not to let conflicts get out of hand, but to actively tackle the situation and look for compromises. Unfortunately, the right path is never easy, but it's worth it! Another example is my mother. She didn't want us to feel too sorry for ourselves in difficult situations and always motivated us to look ahead and take risks. Today, I also try to pass this on to our employees, regardless of gender.

Were there any negative experiences or obstacles that you encountered because of your gender?

I can't proactively remember any such situations. There were certainly situations that any woman would find inappropriate or unpleasant. However, these situations have not left a lasting impression on my soul. At this point, I would recommend every woman to articulate herself very clearly and show boundaries if things get "weird" in any way.

What do you think of this year's motto - should there really be more focus on women as potential specialists?

We are living in volatile times with many social and economic challenges such as political unrest, climate change and the energy crisis. At the same time, more and more skilled workers have been in demand across all sectors for years. This has not changed even after the pandemic! This is certainly due to demographic change and its consequences, among other things. But it may also be due to the fact that barriers for women of working age, for example, need to be further reduced so that they can enter, remain in or return to the workforce. This group of employees continues to offer immense potential that we should and want to exploit.

How does Greenfield support its employees?

We see ourselves as a team! This also makes it clear that every service that Greenfield provides to its customers, even the smallest work package, is not the work of an individual. Rather, it is a joint effort. It is therefore particularly relevant for us to rely on highly motivated specialists and team players. People who feel like entrepreneurs, who want to try things out for themselves and take on responsibility. Regardless of an applicant's gender identity. What counts are soft and hard skills and mental conviction, nothing else. Socio-cultural diversity and tolerance are very important to us!

We are also well aware of the typical hurdles for female applicants and are actively working with them to overcome them. Among other things, we offer flexible working hours that can be adjusted depending on the current life situation. For example, mothers can return to work with reduced working hours after parental leave. A work-life balance is actually possible with us and is not just wishful thinking. Our remote working concept also creates additional freedom and flexibility in everyday life and guarantees no loss of time due to the inconvenience of traveling back and forth between work and home.

We are also a secure employer with steady growth! We pass on this success. Our potential employees can expect regular bonus payments and a permanent employment contract. In this way, we ensure that you can plan your future with us.
