Model-driven? Low-code? What is that?

A model-driven application platform is one of the most effective ways to digitally support complex business transactions and processes. Especially when you need to map variants in the processes - be it due to regulatory requirements or simply due to different use cases depending on the type of business or regional characteristics. The model principle allows pre-programmed function modules to be modeled according to individual requirements.

This is not just about the one-off mapping of end-to-end processes within the company or, increasingly, across company boundaries in the direction of ecosystems. It is also about ensuring that complexity and variant diversity remain manageable during ongoing business operations.

In connection with the model principle, technologies and methods are used that are often associated with low-code platforms today. Low-code simply means that, in contrast to classic text-based programming language, process sequences are configured using a visual design.

For me, the focus is on the interaction of process logic and rules, enriched with AI systems and machine learning for system-supported decisions and automation. Not as an end in itself for IT, but as a value driver for the business and to optimize experience management with a focus on employees, business partners and, of course, customers.

What is important when implementing a low-code platform?

Model-driven application development and low-code platforms are not new; some software manufacturers have been offering mature technologies for some time. Well-known market analysts such as Gartner and Forrester have long rated Pegasystems as the leading provider in this area.

Nowadays, corporate customers expect solutions enriched with preconfigured business logic in the form of components or (micro) services that support cloud-oriented architecture principles. The introduction of such solutions - especially when integrated into existing environments - and an iterative, incremental approach are highly dependent on the consulting and implementation expertise of the service provider providing the implementation or support. Greenfield Technology AG has already successfully proven itself in numerous implementation projects.

How does Greenfield help companies switch to low-code?

The young owner-managed company distinguishes itself from others through its exclusive focus on Pega technology and a very special corporate culture. The enthusiasm and many years of experience of the founding team are the cornerstones for the continuous strong growth in the business and in the development of their team of highly specialized consultants.

Our employees are not only industry specialists, business and IT architects and certified Pega technology experts. Above all, they are a close-knit team of digital experts, listeners and observers, pioneers and co-thinkers, idea generators and innovation artists. This enables them to collaborate with their customers on an equal footing.

I myself have had the pleasure of accompanying Greenfield Technology on its journey to success on the Supervisory Board for four years. From day one, they have been prudent business people with a mission and a clear corporate vision. This professionalism has enabled them to master the turbulent times of the pandemic and helped them to steadily expand their business areas.

Today, Greenfield Technology has two locations in Germany and Poland to provide customer projects with onshore and near-shore delivery models and to further scale them via existing partnerships.

Professional and functional artifacts have been created from successful projects and in-house work, which are reused as project accelerators. Whenever required, customer employees at the Greenfield Academy are given the necessary Pega tools to operate and further develop new processes and applications independently.

All in all, Greenfield Technology has developed a successful model for a very demanding field of activity in which companies usually have to implement business-critical processes and use cases. This requires a rock-solid and reliable Pega partner for long-lasting business relationships and sustainable project and business success.
