Successful Pega digitalization at UKB
In 2019, Bonn University Hospital decided to digitalize its HR processes as far as possible. To date, 7 HR processes have already been implemented on the basis of Pega's low-code platform.
Throughput and processing times have been significantly reduced by up to 60%. Furthermore, the time-consuming inquiries about the processing status that were necessary in the past are no longer necessary and sources of error in the application processes are eliminated. This relieves employees immensely.
The UKB achieved another major effect, particularly in terms of saving paper, which not only has economic benefits, but of course also ecological ones. Several tens of thousands of sheets of paper can be saved each year.
Pega upgrade within just 10 working days
Some time has passed since the introduction of the solution based on version 8.2.2 and Pega has released new software versions in the meantime. The UKB wanted to benefit from this in its further project work and carried out a Pega upgrade project in May 2022.
Thanks to a detailed schedule, Greenfield AG upgraded the various Pega environments (development, test, production) to the latest version 8.7.1 within just 10 working days.
The three environments were converted in stages. This approach enabled several risks to be reduced to a minimum, including the time during which the platform was unavailable. The day-to-day work of the university hospital continued almost as usual during the upgrade project.
Sarah Nieden, project manager at the UKB:
"Greenfield and his colleagues supported us in a proven manner during the upgrade to the latest Pega version and updated our 3 working environments to the new version. We can now carry out our further planned optimizations with the latest version of Pega faster and more cost-effectively."
